Common questions
Where do the numbers in these tools come from?
From the state statutes, as published by each legislature or court system. Every result links to the section it comes from. We add a state only after reading its statute, and a state we haven't reviewed yet is marked that way rather than estimated.
Are these calculators legal advice?
No. They apply the statute's general rule to the numbers you enter. A will, a written agreement, extra work beyond the usual duties or a court order can change the answer, so check with the probate court or a probate attorney.
Do the tools store what I enter?
No. The math runs in your browser, and nothing you type is sent to ProbateUS.
